The research focuses on Gabriele Castelli collection of antiquities set in Rome at the end of XVI century, transferred in Terni and in 1740 at Pesaro, where is until yet preserved. In the first Chapter Anna Santucci deals with the life of Gabriele Castelli, cubicularius intimus of Pope Sixtus V Peretti, and Castelli family from Terni and its estates during the XVI and XVII centuries. In the second Chapter Valeria Purcaro traces the history of the family Baldassini from 1712 and includes a paragraph on the Del Monte-Gozze-Baldassini Palace in Pesaro. In the third Chapter Maria Elisa Micheli displays the information on the collection and its cultural display. A complete catalogue of the 70 ancient and modern pieces follows. A concordance list and a schematic drawing provide for finding each pieces in the inventories and catalogue. The goal is to investigate a minor and peripheral episode into a privileged mirror that frames and reveals the taste for antiquities within a precise geographical area over a long span of time.
