The research investigates the concept of autonomous thinking and acting as an epistemological need with thought appealing to reason so to know itself and be understood. Sapere aude! is both a must for thought as well as a pedagogic rule. It capitalizes on Kant’s enlightened lesson and nourishes itself upon the capability of critically exercising own intellectual capabilities while prioritizing reflection. Aufklärung’s dawn, conceived as the lighting up of thought, is revisited via a research path going all the way to the roots of thinking and coinciding with reflection, “the best way to think and inquire reality”, conceived in a Deweyan fashion. This is performed adopting a trans-disciplinary perspective to steer man’s formation. In fact, thinking by ourselves and reasoning autonomously represent the first way to be free, choose consciously, and take better decisions. This ensures not falling prey to other people’s power nor delegating our self-thinking craft to them.
