Abstract

This final chapter investigates whether or not this paradigmatic matter still echoes in the individual and collective consciousness or whether by now it is only confined to the minds of various scholars. In this instance as well, I address the issue by considering several exemplary cases in which the myth of Medusa has survived throughout today’s fragmented memory, though in a contradictory and multi-faceted way. In this promising, sometimes unsettling, attempt to map these trajectories, it seems legitimate to take into account the “timetable” of these invisible models that, over the centuries, have gradually conquered the imaginations and social concerns of entire generations.
