Delle Azioni Umane: la figura di Francesco Antonio Marcucci nella cultura Storico-Letteraria e Teologica del Settecento.

Delle Azioni Umane, is a treatise of moral theology composed by Venerable Francesco Antonio Marcucci, Roman Catholic Bishop of Ascoli Piceno, precursor of the Immaculate Conception, Vice Regent of Pope Clement XIV and Pope Pius VI, Patriarch of Constantinople and prominent figure on the historical and cultural scene of the Eighteenth Century. This huge literary work is in the form of a manuscript: the purpose of the this study is to create a critical edition of this ancient text, accompanied by an introduction which analyses the style and the subjects discussed in it, contextualizing them within the main historical and theological currents of the period. The treatise is part of the age-old controversy regarding the Probabilism, which involved different areas of the Knowledge, from the Jurisprudence to the Moral Theology. Despite the lack of completeness and revision, it is the result of a careful and detailed analysis of the most important argumentations, taking stock of the main positions of the time. However, this research is the beginning of a study which focuses on the moral of Venerable Marcucci, in order to inspire further and more accurate inquiries from a contemporary perspective.
