Claudio Claudi: un episodio sconosciuto di umanesimo nel secolo breve. Biografia intellettuale, introduzione critica ed edizione filologica di Realtà e valore.

This work looks into the rebuilding of the historical memory about the Claudi family, paying particular attention in studying Claudio Claudi’s work, firstborn of his family. There are no significant scientific studies about his thoughts yet, many of them aren’t even published and properly filed yet. The Claudi foundation began to digitalize and set up the large amount of autograph material stored. The first chapter is dedicated to the biographic rebuilding, through a careful reading of all the texts composed by Claudio Claudi. To furfill this goal, a preliminary storage of documents was necessary, in order to find out sources and to know cultural contexts attended by the author. This rebuilding showed us a deep bound between his life occurences and the worth of his writing. The intellectual activity is conceived as the only devise to purchase a meaning for an hard life, dominated by a sense of failure. The goal of Claudi as author is to achieve his own, absolute and eternal dimension and his writings must be read being aware of this practical-religious and magical purpose. Once the rebuilding is finished, the work looks into the unedited text Reality and value. Riflection around philosophy, wich Claudi began to write October 29 1949 and ended June 30 1951 in Rome. To understand the complexity and peculiarity of this essay was necessary firstly to frame studies around Claudi’s image, philological criteria used for the commentary of the work and the general structure of the documentary-historical Fund. This aspect is developed in the second chapter. In the third chapter there is a comment to the contents of Reality and value. During text analysis we tried to follow the talking points conceived by the author. This criterion allows us to proof the originality and evolution of Claudi’s thaughts, but sometimes doesn’t help in clearly expose the work. In Reality and value the author resumes themes from his meditation, summarizing them in way wich guarantees to the subject to discover himself as an absolute entity. Reality and value was transcribed following philological criteria of the genetic approach. Once we decided the definitiveautograph version to put down, we brang also the variants in the work in order to show how the author approaches to the final drafting of the essay. At the end of the work we added two unedited variants of the first chapter in the Appendyx, wrote by the author more or less in the Fifties. To help the reader “to in his hand” the image of Claudi. The work finishes with some scans of his transcribed texts. The methodolgy involved was the genealogical recostruction of thaughts of the author and memebers of his family. This method was functional in building the archive, setting the research towards Claudi’s thought following an hypothetical historical development. Indeed, genealogical method offers devices to understand if the author’s production can be considered as the development and the confirm of an original idea expressed in many forms, or if we must see it without a common base and marked by different benefits, wich are summarised in an eclectic personality, unpleased to face the public.
