After a quick reference to the history of the seminar on Hegemony after Gramsci: A Reassessment, and to the dissemination of its results, the paper presents the special issue hosted by this journal. The articles included in it deals with a wide series of topics. They range from the interpretations of Gramsci’s thought given by Raniero Panzieri, Nicola Badaloni, Ibrahim Abu Rabi’ and René Zavaleta, to a series of critical interventions in the contemporary debates about the meaning of hegemony as a tool for a renewed emancipatory strategy in Europe and Latin America.
