Abstract
Senecan tragedies are dominated by infernal imagery. A considerable amount of space is devoted to the theme of katabasis, which is presented by Seneca both in its canonical form, as in the long rhesis of Hercules furens, and in a more symbolic way. The present contribution investigates the latter perspective, focusing in particular on Phaedra, Oedipus, Thyestes, Troades and Agamemnon.File in questo prodotto:
