While after the Ukraine crisis everything points to the Kremlin’s attitude of looking more to the East than to the West, it is important to reconstruct the main stages of the Russian geo-political repositioning towards a « Great Eurasia ». To do this, a necessary step is to identify the different historical phases of Moscow’s international positioning between West and East after the collapse of the USSR, keeping the Kremlin’s internal political and institutional evolution in the background .
