Abstract · The Music of Praise. Preliminary Study on the Epinicians and on the Encomia of Pindar and Bacchylides · This study investigates the presence in Simonides’, Pindar’s and Bacchylides’ laudatory songs of plain references to musical performance, in the form of references to musical instruments, the singer’s voice, rhythms or musical modes; the possible correlations between musical modes, musical instruments and metric forms are also investigated.
