The essay illustrates the reasons and aims for which the PoetRi project was conceived, the manuscripts selected, and the results obtained at the end of the prototype phase. In particular, the criteria used to create the philological file are described, and for each author under study, an account of the manuscript tradition of the rhymes and the state of the art (bibliography with details of critical and non-critical editions) is given.
