The essay outlines the origins, aims, and structure of the PoetRi project, developed within the MUR FISR-Covid 2020 programme to address the difficulties scholars faced in accessing manuscripts during the pandemic. The project digitised 36 poetic codices from the Biblioteca Riccardiana in Florence, selected especially among fourteenth- to sixteenth-century witnesses dealing with political and moral themes or scarcely explored by previous research. Digitisation, however, is presented only as the starting point of a broader initiative designed as an integrated interdisciplinary database, combining palaeography, codicology, and philology to support new studies, update outdated critical editions, and provide material for academic teaching. The author details the metadata and analytical work carried out within the project, which produced around 1,600 textual descriptions and an innovative set of philological records devoted mainly to “minor” authors lacking modern critical editions. These records, structured in standardised fields, offer information on manuscript tradition, metrical features, dating, editions, and essential bibliography. The essay also discusses the integration with the Manus Online database, which ensures stability, accessibility, and interoperability of data.
