The paper starts from a reflection on the ubiquitous relationship between food and culture and its relevance in the design of criminal policies relating to the food chain, whose various areas of potential criminal relevance are reviewed in their variety and interactions. Having reaffirmed the priority of general positive prevention approaches, also in the light of the potential for sharing values linked to the common experience of nutrition and the social importance of conviviality, and having briefly given an account of the recent reform of the penal sanctions system, some suggestions for further development are presented, with particular regard to the instances of overcoming the symmetric-retaliatory model. Finally, regarding the prevention obligations incumbent on organizations and employers, the risk of exacerbation of the disciplinary system that regulates the daily activity of workers is highlighted: proposing, even in this context, some remedies to the apparent inevitability of afflictive and expulsive logics.
