The use of the History of Science by philosophers of science takes several forms: an appeal to case studies involving the concepts or methods typical of some theory, the combining of certain scientific facts to highlight a common point full of epistemic value, the identification of counterexamples useful to deny a rival perspective, and so on. These pages offer some general observations on the use of the History of Science in relation to certain aspects of the debate on scientific realism. Some doubts are raised to confirm the importance of a close interaction between the two fields of History and Philosophy of Science.

Abstract
The use of the History of Science by philosophers of science takes several forms: an appeal to case studies involving the concepts or methods typical of some theory, the combining of certain scientific facts to highlight a common point full of epistemic value, the identification of counterexamples useful to deny a rival perspective, and so on. These pages offer some general observations on the use of the History of Science in relation to certain aspects of the debate on scientific realism. Some doubts are raised to confirm the importance of a close interaction between the two fields of History and Philosophy of Science.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
