he paper takes into account some possible cases of contamination between local and Roman names attested by Latin inscriptional evidence from places located in the territory formerly inhabited by the ancient Veneti people (Altinum, Iulia Concordia, Ateste, Acelum, Patavium, Opitergium, Bellunum, Vicetia, and Tarvisium). Epigraphic sources in Latin from neighboring cities, inhabited also by Rhaetic individuals, such as Feltria, Tridentum, and Berua, have also been considered. A census of all this evidence is proposed for the first time. Three case-studies are also illustrated, respectively from Ateste, from Berua (understood as Montebelluna) and Tarvisium, and from Tridentum, which attest to significant changes in the onomastic practices of indigenous family groups that gradually adopted appellative systems more and more in line with the standard Roman nomenclature.

Abstract
he paper takes into account some possible cases of contamination between local and Roman names attested by Latin inscriptional evidence from places located in the territory formerly inhabited by the ancient Veneti people (Altinum, Iulia Concordia, Ateste, Acelum, Patavium, Opitergium, Bellunum, Vicetia, and Tarvisium). Epigraphic sources in Latin from neighboring cities, inhabited also by Rhaetic individuals, such as Feltria, Tridentum, and Berua, have also been considered. A census of all this evidence is proposed for the first time. Three case-studies are also illustrated, respectively from Ateste, from Berua (understood as Montebelluna) and Tarvisium, and from Tridentum, which attest to significant changes in the onomastic practices of indigenous family groups that gradually adopted appellative systems more and more in line with the standard Roman nomenclature.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
