This study undertakes a systematic analysis of Apollonius Rhodius’ lexicon from both diachronic and synchronic perspectives. To date, the linguistic dimension of Apollonius’ poetry sensu stricto has received limited scholarly attention, chiefly because it has been considered subordinate to the long-established comparative analyses involving the Homeric literary language, the epic Kunstsprache, and the usus scribendi of other Hellenistic poets. My thesis therefore aims to delineate the systematic principles underlying Apollonius’ lexical innovation and to elucidate the extent to which his poetic diction reflects, negotiates, or redefines the aesthetic tenets of Hellenistic poetics. The lexical analysis does not refer to the entire Apollonian vocabulary but only to the terms hapax legomena found in the Argonautica, which constitute a privileged field of observation for lexical creativity and poetological self-consciousness.

Abstract
