Thge aim of the present study was to analize the development of the conceptual representation of "Ennemy". Twenty subjects wee examined for each of the lollowing age groups:6/7 years; 8/9; 19/11; 13/14 and young adults, with different age school levels. Two kinds of tasks were used: the first one was a choise task based on graphic-pictorial stimuli belonging to three categories: Phantasy characters; Stereotypical roles; Symbolic images; the second task used verbal questions regarding definitions of the "Ennemy" concept and of its recognition criteria. Results showed similar trends in both tasks, that is a shift from concrete and idiosyncratic to more abstract and general representation, as a fubction of age and schooling. At the same time the two tasks elicited different conceptual components, the verbal one revealing a more complex representation than the graphic task.
