This study examines three sections of Bacchylides’ poems: Ep. 3, 72-73; Dith. 1, 36-62; Dith. 3, 90-118. The analysis and the commentary are developed by making a detailed comparison of the narrative structure of the poems (the myth of Antenoridai in Dith.1 and the story of the quarrel between Theseus and Minos on board ship in Dith.3) with epic tradition and the paintings on vases. Particularly the study examines a vase of 5th C. B.C. (Painter of Kadmos).
