The author has specifically contributed to the elaboration of this new manual on archival science with specific attention to the record management and to the new areas influenced by the information technology. The requirements and the principles for the records creation, management and access have been developed from a general point of view. The intermediate archival function has been handled with specific attention to the definition of general models. The legislation on record management and on electronic recordkeeping systems has been carefully analysed.
