Semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons on a polarized proton (deuteron) target have been simulated by means of Monte Carlo techniques for the proposed HERMES experiment. The simulations show how HERMES could determine the spin contribution of valence quarks to the proton spin and reveal the existence of a negatively polarized sea.

Abstract
Semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons on a polarized proton (deuteron) target have been simulated by means of Monte Carlo techniques for the proposed HERMES experiment. The simulations show how HERMES could determine the spin contribution of valence quarks to the proton spin and reveal the existence of a negatively polarized sea.File in questo prodotto:
