Family Firms are the most common business model in advanced economies and in developing countries. Succession is the main reason of failure for FFs. Much attention is given to the successor’s preparation, which may help to influence the success of succession and reduce risks for the survival of FFs. This paper shows an educational initiative, named “Laboratory on generational transfer”, devoted to the issue of succession in FFs and involving undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in economics and management studies.

Abstract

Family Firms are the most common business model in advanced economies and in developing countries. Succession is the main reason of failure for FFs.
