In the Marche-Romagna area, the last decades of the nineteenth century were characterized by a significant climate deterioration marked by cold winters and abundant precipitations, the latter especially as snowfalls. The geomorphologic response is noticeable in this important hydrologic phenomenon and the landslide of Caitasso represents the most significant example. This event involved a considerable area under cultivation and through the obstruction of the San Marino creek led to the development of an ephemeral lake. Research carried out on document archive and ancient maps, together with geognostic data and field survey, allowed to reconstruct the morphology and the evolution of this remarkable event.

Abstract
In the Marche-Romagna area, the last decades of the nineteenth century were characterized by a significant climate deterioration marked by cold winters and abundant precipitations, the latter especially as snowfalls. The geomorphologic response is noticeable in this important hydrologic phenomenon and the landslide of Caitasso represents the most significant example. This event involved a considerable area under cultivation and through the obstruction of the San Marino creek led to the development of an ephemeral lake. Research carried out on document archive and ancient maps, together with geognostic data and field survey, allowed to reconstruct the morphology and the evolution of this remarkable event.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
