The special issue of Telecommunications Policy explores innovations in public e-services. Public e-services are a broad and growing research area in which scholars and practitioners from different research fields are involved. The third phase of development in this area is witnessing the blurring of the boundary between citizen and government and a growing number of services being co-designed, co-delivered and developed outside of government on the basis of public data. Public administrations (PAs) are increasingly induced to collaborate with users in new service provision. Experts state that innovations are playing a key role in helping PAs to improve their services and help the public to to derive the required data effectively.
