The introduction of a new qualifying university degree for cultural heritage restorers is considered to be very useful in terms of opening a debate on the teaching of drawing. The courses in question are cultural heritage restoration courses involving canvases, sculptures, ceramic objects, tools, finds etc.; the science of representation in this field may in fact involve different aspects and forms of teaching. Moreover, this new type of university degree is not held in institutes like the Academy of Fine Arts but at post graduate Schools (ISCR,OPD), Universities and schools with a different approach to drawing and its forms of representation. To date, the situation is very particular and there is no specialisation; moreover the operators trained are involved with works of art and museums where the image is of fundamental importance. A consideration is therefore proposed, through a number of examples, on the themes of restoration, the image of works of art associated to new cultural heritage technologies that range from documentation, management and valorisation.
