Il francescanesimo a Pesaro in età malatestiana (secoli XIV-XV)

The present study examines, on the most recent archival and historiographical researches, the development of Franciscan Order in Pesaro in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and its relations with the Malatesta. To investigate the religious policy of the lords of Pesaro (fourteenth and fifteenth centuries) means addressing especially the problem of the relationship of the manor with the ecclesiastical power. In this perspective did not fail, of course, by their various interventions in favor of the clergy, secular and regular, frequent recipient of attention and donations: in fact the Malatesta not only proved to be available to the authorities bishop and canons in general, but also tended to generously support the Franciscan Order, to promote their foundations and cults of local saints, to support the administration of convents especially with the precious contribution of the women’s Malatesta, who collaborated in the diffusion of Franciscanism in the society and spirituality of Pesaro.
