Carlo Cesare Malvasia (Bologna 1616-1693) is well known as an art historian. According to his education and profession, he was mainly a jurist and professor of law at the University of Bologna. Through the analysis of the inventory of his legal books, this research shows Malvasia as a jurist, discovering unexpected traits of its scientific personality as reflected in his library.
