Abstract

In the Seventies the historical-political cycle that marked social conflicts in the West suddenly have been reversed. The rise of the subaltern classes is followed now by a massive counter-charge by the ruling classes. It’s the beginning of the end for modern democracy. And it’s the coming of a kind of bonapartistic-mediatic system of government that today works building and constantly remodeling public opinion and public sphere. But if the rise of the subaltern classes in XIX and XX had been allowed by their conscious progressive unification, unavoidable condition for an effective management of the conflict, the demolition of modern democracy inevitably implicates now a destructuration of the antagonist subject and and a destructuration of the concept of identity itself. It’s a process developing mainly on the soil of production. But his effects would not be possible without a parallel transformation of the form of conscience. A transformation that gives a crucial role to the ideological sphere and to philosophy. Postmodernism is in this perspective the dominant cultural aspect of an enourmous transformation in which passive revolution and restoration are interlinked.
