This article addresses the recurrent use of the notion of "crisis" in Italian film historiography. It examines the three uses of the term of critic Robert Koselleck, applied to three distinct moments of crisis during Italian film history. It ultimately seeks to challenge the recurrent use of this term, and in particular in reference to the "perennial" crisis of Italian cinema today.
