This contribution examines seven letters on the problematic question of archbishop Pandolfo Malatesti’s inheritance. These letters, preserved in Mantua Gonzaga archives, are very important in that they show close relations between the Malatesti, lords of Pesaro, and the Gonzaga lords of Mantua. After long law investigations to establish the heir at law of Malatesti small property - because archbishop Pandolfo didn’t make any will - Paola Malatesti, Gianfrancesco Gonzaga’s wife, renounced the above-mentioned inheritance in Galeazzo’s brother favour.
