Are Immediate and Delayed Suggestibility among children and adolescents linked to Socio Emotional Intelligence?

People who are more suggestible are highly emotional but there are no existing studies that examine the link between immediate and delayed suggestibility, an important variable in a forensic context, and Emotional Intelligence. In this study the Gudjonsson Suggestibility Scale (GSS2) and the Emotional Quotient Inventory: Youth Version (BarOn EQ-I: YV) to measure Emotional Quotient were administered to a sample of children (N=534) aged between 9 and 16 years in order to obtain suggestibility scores. The study aimed at finding out whether high, average or low levels of Emotional Quotient affect immediate suggestibility and if Emotional Quotient controlled by age, gender and IQ affects with Gss2 Scores. Participants with high emotional scores had higher immediate suggestibility scores (Yield, Yield 2 and Total Suggestibility), than other groups. No differences were found in Delayed Suggestibility, Delayed and Immediate recall.
