The article shows how the identification of Gramsci’s sources in his Prison Notebooks and the way they are, often implicitly, “intertwined” helps to understand the meaning of his philosophy of praxis and its key category, i.e. the translatability of languages. This notion plays a fundamental role in addressing the question of the relationship between theory and practice, and between philosophy and politics, avoiding any form of reductionism.

Abstract

The article shows how the identification of Gramsci’s sources in his Prison Notebooks and the way they are, often implicitly, “intertwined” helps to understand the meaning of his philosophy of praxis and its key category, i.e. the translatability of languages. This notion plays a fundamental role in addressing the question of the relationship between theory and practice, and between philosophy and politics, avoiding any form of reductionism.
