The article presents a review of the main theoretical perspectives that have been developed to interpret the strategic decision-making process of companies, emphasizing the debate between the economic and behavioral perspectives. The latter, however, has not yet fully investigated the wide variety of factors that influence strategic decision-making processes. Factors of influence can be traced back to psychological and social elements of the decision makers, such as social norms, emotions and environmental factors. The decisions for internationalization strategies are those that are most exposed to these variables, also because the choices concern market relations that are based on different cultural bases. The article then provides suggestions for future research developments
