Natural is the interest in Hegel in a magazine founded by Gentile; not so the interest in the Hegelian Left and Marx, but also present in continuity with the Marxian essays of the founder in his youth and with the presence of K. Löwith among the contributors in the 1930s. Hegel is considered here only through historical contributions about him; Marx also through the strenuous discussions on Marxism, almost inseparable with us from study of the author. From the most far-reaching articles of the journal’s roaring years to the more limited specialized or actualizing articles of today, the not always encouraging mutation of the profession of the philosophy scholar emerges here from the issues of the «Giornale» in the very particular perspective of the recurring episodes of death and rebirth within the tradition called, with an ugly compound name, Hegelo-Marxism.
