Abstract

This paper, through a literature review, explores the application of 3D Printing in the agri-food sector. Food printing technology could provide a platform to experiment food design on shapes, colors, flavors, introduce artistic capabilities to fine dining, and extend mass customization capabilities to the industrial culinary sector. Furthermore, it has potential to support a personalized nutrition control mechanism; a prototyping tool to facilitate new food product development, and a potential type of new machines to reconfigure a customized food supply chain.
