This article chronicles the history of the discovery of the Roman maritime villa near Santa Marinella. Dating back to the end of the 1st century BC, the villa continued to live until the 5th century AD; at the beginning of the 3rd century AD, it was owned by Ulpianus. A relevant phase of its life concerns the end of the 1st century AD to the first half of the 2nd century AD, a period to which what remains of its sculptural marble decoration belongs.
