The research analyzes the Italicus train massacre of August 4, 1974, reconstructing the context preceding and following the terrorist attack, considered one of the most relevant but less studied events of the strategy of tension. Judicial sources - the backbone of the research - intertwine with recently declassified documentation from State apparatuses and dialogue with parliamentary acts, the press and historiography to follow the threads of a subversive web woven by right-wing radicalism and circles linked to it by an extremist anti-communism. The reconstruction of this intricate political galaxy follows its culture, languages, programs, terroristic operations and presence on the ground, but also its links with related movements abroad, with State apparatuses and the "occult powers" of reactionary freemasonry. The train bombing that hit the Rome-Brenner express train on the Florence-Bologna line is thus placed within an important juncture of republican history, which divides the 1970s into two halves and marks a watershed in the study of political violence in Italy.

Abstract
The train bombing that hit the Rome-Brenner express train on the Florence-Bologna line is thus placed within an important juncture of republican history, which divides the 1970s into two halves and marks a watershed in the study of political violence in Italy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
