The error of law has received continuous attention through the ages. This article attempts to trace back the main milestones of the jurisprudence path on the theme, starting from Labeo until Julius Paulus, author of a monograph dedicated to it. And it will try to demonstrate how, even in the undeniable distance between the examined perspectives, it is possible to recognize a development which unites in a very interesting scientific connection, the different reflections by the jurists, within which a preeminent role must be recognized to the severian jurist.
