It has become a trope to describe Marx's treatment of Latin America as a blind spot - a 'history of missed encounter'. However, in recent decades this idea has been partially revised. This essay will focus on how the Marxian perspective emphasizes that Latin America casts a light on the historical truth on the 'arcana' of capitalism, which the polical economy claims to conceal and naturalize. Latin America is not a scrap of evolution despite all its 'archaisms'. On the contrary, manifest anachronism reveals the simultaneous coexistence of different temporal layers moving according to different rhythms yet synchronized within the world market.
