This paper outlines the situation of the epistemology of the discipline that in Italian is called ‘Pedagogia’, focused on educational theory (not to be identified with the ‘false friend’ Pedagogy). In the first part, we identify the main problems in this field. In the second we examine the issue of the object of Pedagogia. Finally, in the third part, we analyze the epistemology of Didactics and its relationship with Pedagogia.
