The book on “Place-Based Approaches to Sustainability” collects papers presented for the Annual European Spirituality in Economics and Society (SPES) Conference entitled “Place- Based Sustainability, Ethics and Spirituality. Call for a New Economy Serving Life” in 21–23 May 2020 in Urbino, Italy. The conference focused on the much-needed ecological transformation of humankind. It explores theoretical and practical mod- els that integrate the sense of the place, ethics and spirituality in new ways of organizing of economic and social life. The main insight on which the book is based is that without respecting and nurturing the place we cannot achieve a state of ecological sustainability.
