When discussing the crisis of the Left, it is not only about the decrease in electoral support and the loss of members, but also about the inability of political forces that identify with a progressive matrix to tune into societal transformations and common sentiment. Some possible examples compare experiences that are very different in method and results: the Italian Left represented by the Italian Communist Party compared to the legacy of post-communism and the English Labour Party. These are two models that highlight the lights and shadows of the attempt to insert themselves into a reality that, from the 1980s to the third millennium, has not only see the transformation of capitalism but that has also known the evolution of politics and of the way of doing politics.

Abstract
When discussing the crisis of the Left, it is not only about the decrease in electoral support and the loss of members, but also about the inability of political forces that identify with a progressive matrix to tune into societal transformations and common sentiment. Some possible examples compare experiences that are very different in method and results: the Italian Left represented by the Italian Communist Party compared to the legacy of post-communism and the English Labour Party. These are two models that highlight the lights and shadows of the attempt to insert themselves into a reality that, from the 1980s to the third millennium, has not only see the transformation of capitalism but that has also known the evolution of politics and of the way of doing politics.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
