The paper concentrates on the written evidence – travelogues by Italian writers of the 1950s and 1960s: newspaper articles, diaries and archival materials, particularly on the texts by Alberto Moravia and Enzo Bettisa. In the history of cultural relations between Western Europe and Russia, Italy has always played a privileged role, both as a real and ideal destination for Russian travelers, and as a starting point for Italian travelers. In this sense, travel prose is a convincing evidence of the dialogical relationship between Italy and Russia, contributing to the creation of a Russian narrative about Italy and an Italian narrative about Russia at different stages of the historical development of the two countries.
