Vincenzo Coronelli is considered one of the greatest terrestrial and celestial globemakers, as well as geographer, cartographer and cosmographer. An analysis of his astronomical works, from globes to the writings, suggests instead as his knowledge of major developments which the astronomy of the seventeenth century was going through was not particularly thorough, or, however, as he deemed more relevant giving prominence to his vast erudition and satisfying the curiosity of its audience, even with astrological insights, that addressing issues related to astronomical studies of his time. In general, the tone and attitude of the informed reporter remains, often unable to provide the most technical and profound reasons for scientific discussions: a particular case is provided by the report on the world’s systems drawn up during the seventeenth century.
