Conservazione e tutela dei mosaici di Ravenna nel dibattito scientifico e politico alla fine degli anni Trenta

In the second half of the 1930s, a heated debate arose about the conservation of the mosaics of the early Christian churches, pitting state officials against the local civil society. A rich archival documentation has been compiled, which allows the phases of this dispute to be followed, and the establishment of a mixed commission to be traced. The task of this commission was to determine how to intervene on the mosaics while respecting their material characteristics and their conservation history.
