This study aims to examine the little-known figure of Brother Augustine of Mombaroccio and his role as the protagonist of the Franciscan reform of the fifteenth century, alongside Albert of Sarteano, James of the March, John of Capistrano and Bernardine of Siena. Provincial minister of the Conventuals of the Marches and learned preacher, Brother Augustine did his utmost for the unity of the Order and the reform, first-hand experiencing the inevitable split of the Franciscans into two families during the transition to the Observants alongside Saint James of the March.
