Drawing on Giulio Maria Chiodi’s interpretation of Nietzsche, this essay explores music as a key to understanding the formation of social bonds and the origins of power. The tension between Apollonian form and Dionysian intoxication reveals how collective life takes shape without overcoming its constitutive vulnerability. A dialogue with Charles Malamoud’s account of Vedic ritual and Elias Canetti’s political anthropology shows how ritual and symbol transform fragmentation into shared experience and preserve collective emotions over time. Nietzsche’s ascetic priest exposes the ambivalence of this process, whereby suffering can be organised into guilt, ressentiment and hostility. The essay thus asks whether communities can sustain their bonds through an acknowledgement of shared vulnerability without turning suffering into a justification for exclusion.

Abstract
The essay thus asks whether communities can sustain their bonds through an acknowledgement of shared vulnerability without turning suffering into a justification for exclusion.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
