ForamEcoQS is an open-source desktop application for Ecological Quality Status assessment based on foraminifera, single-celled, predominantly marine organisms that typically produce a shell. It imports species abundance matrices, resolves taxonomic names against regional ecological-group lists, calculates diversity descriptors and major foraminiferal biotic indices, converts outputs to five EcoQS classes, and exports tables and figures. The software combines an interactive Windows graphical interface with a command-line mode for reproducible batch processing. Validation against published reference datasets, independent Python and R package implementations, and a large-scale stress test of 3491 samples confirms high numerical agreement, while configurable reference lists and thresholds make methodological choices explicit for monitoring and research workflows.
